The power of ginger: natural anti-inflammatory

By Ruth Ferraz Byrnes

The Lord has blessed mankind with many gifts in the nature, one is the ginger.  Nowadays people often feel stressed, their body are stiff and sore. Normally people look at synthetic medicines for chronic pain relief, often unbearable. Taking painkillers frequently, especially without medical supervision can be dangerous due to side effects, which in some cases can even be fatal. Drugs such as Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) have been linked to kidney damage, anemia, heart palpitations and gastrointestinal bleeding.

There is a natural painkiller that has no side effects. The coolest thing is that you probably already have this analgesic in your kitchen cabinet! This analgesic is called Ginger. That's right! Ginger.

For centuries Ginger has been used throughout Asia to treat joint pains, colds and even indigestion. Raw or cooked may be an analgesic effective even for inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, because the inflammation is the root cause all sorts of problems such as arthritis, back pain, muscle pain, etc..

It contains 12 different compounds that fight inflammation. One of these compounds lowers the pain receptors and acts on nerve endings.  Together they work almost the same anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and aspirin, but without the side effects.
If your intention is to replace the synthetic analgesics, continue to consume ginger.

Here are some tips for you to get a good dose of ginger:
  - When frying some foods add the ginger and stir well: it will add a refreshing flavor to any dish of meat and vegetables.
 - Complement: Most pharmacies or health food stores sell ginger powder, tablets or capsules. Look for an extract with 5% gingerols.
- Use a compress of ginger on sore areas: This will stimulate blood circulation and relieve joint pain.
